What About The Asian And European Markets?
Major Asian markets ended Monday with nice gains. Japan (Nikkei 225) up 0.67%, Shanghai up0.48%, Hong Kong (Hang Seng) up 2.41%.
Major European markets were markedly lower. German (DAX) down 1.66%, France CAC 40 down 1.57%, London FTSE 100 down 0.84%.
Market And Sector Dynamics
Markets opened today's session mixed with the Dow down 53 points, Nasdaq soared 144 points, and the S&P up 10 points. WTI crude oil closed the session at $52.28/barrel, up 0.04%, with the US 10 Year Bond hovering at 1.067%.
The market got off to a volatile start, below the flat line for most of the morning, but gradually recovered during the afternoon session, to close at the high of the day. At the intraday low the Dow was down 420 points shortly after 11:00 AM.
Seven of the eleven S&P sectors closed with gains, led by Utilities, Consumer Staples, Technology, Real Estate, Healthcare, Communication Services, and Consumer Discretionary. Energy, Financials, Industrials, and Basic Materials were lower.
Factors Influencing Today's Market
Both the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 closed today at new record highs.
US 10 Year Bond Yeild closed at 1.033%, down 5.73%.
WTI crude oil closed at $52.77/barrel, up 0.96%.
Asian markets closed the session with moderate gains, while European stocks were lower.
Market Close Volume Traded And Advance Decline Ratio
Markets ended mixed in today's trading. The Dow fell 36.98 points, Nasdaq gained 92.93 points, and the S&P gained 13.89 points. Total NYSE volume traded, a heavy 6.97 billion shares. Declining shares outpaced Advancing shares by 1.43:1.
